Civil Asset Engineer

About us

At Civil Sciences and Engineering (CSE), we’re more than an engineering consultancy, we’re a small but ambitious team, building something unique in Western Australia. Founded by a graduate engineer and a guru with 50+ years of experience, we’ve grown quickly by being adaptable, curious, and client focused.

We’re not the kind of company where everything is already set in stone. Instead, we’re constantly refining, improving, and looking for better ways to serve our clients. That means every team member has a chance to shape how we do things. If you value culture, collaboration, and innovation as much as technical excellence, you’ll feel right at home here.

The Role

We are seeking a motivated Civil Asset Engineer to join our team on a part-time basis, with the opportunity to transition into full-time work as our project pipeline grows. This role will focus on road condition assessments and asset data management, supporting road maintenance and rehabilitation programs.

You will:

  • Conduct road inspections and condition assessments on urban and rural roads.
  • Utilise QGIS to manage and analyse spatial data, producing asset network maps, and decision-support tools.
  • Capture, collate, and interpret client asset data with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assist in preparing condition assessment and treatment reports, specifications, and tender/construction documentation.
  • Apply and refine field data collection processes to improve consistency and quality.
  • Uphold company and industry safety standards, ensuring compliance with WHS legislation.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience in road asset management and/or road construction.
  • Strong skills in QGIS for data integration, analysis, and visualisation.
  • Experience with Power BI is highly regarded.
  • A current Class C driver’s licence.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and as part of a small, collaborative team.

What We Offer

  • Part-time role with the potential to transition to full-time.
  • Exposure to diverse civil engineering projects across Western Australia.
  • Supportive team environment with opportunities for growth and development.
  • Flexibility to balance site work and office-based analysis.

Eligibility & Location

  • Applicants must have demonstrated work experience within Australia (experience in Western Australia will be highly regarded).
  • Only candidates with current Australian working rights will be considered. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship at this time.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this role. Preference will be given to applicants already based in Western Australia.

• Competitive salary based on experience
