Client: BGC Quarries
Completed: March 2023
BGC Quarries engaged CSE to develop a specification for use of their crushed granite natural roadbase (NRB001) as an alternative basecourse material. CSE carried out a thorough analysis of the material properties, characteristics and performance.
Recent projects have successfully implemented the use of this material as a basecourse alternative. We carried out an assessment of this material using relevant State Road authority specifications to determine its viability. Laboratory test results were used in conjunction with our knowledge on material performance qualities to ensure a fit for purpose specification was developed.
The material tested is a crushed granite residue from the manufacture of granite aggregates for use as a key material for the manufacture of concrete from the BGC Quarry at the Lakes on Great Southern Highway.
